Tehran [Iran], April 30 (ANI): The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the Trump administration has moved from a policy of “managing the world’s energy” to one of “disruption,” and that Tehran has become the focal point of a “coalition against disruption.”
In an X post, the IRGC claimed the shift included a maritime blockade launched as part of a larger disruption project aimed at containing China, Russia and Europe. The post said that after about 20 days, White House assessments increasingly conclude the plan has failed and that Iran now anchors resistance to the effort.
The IRGC linked its statement to reports that U.S. Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper is expected to brief President Trump as the U.S. military considers further operations in Iran, a development first reported by Axios.
Separately, the Wall Street Journal reported that President Trump has told aides to prepare for an extended blockade of Iran — a high-risk attempt to coerce Tehran into nuclear concessions it has long resisted. The blockade would continue to target Iran’s oil exports by restricting shipping to and from its ports, according to officials cited by the Journal.
Officials told the Journal Trump views continued blockade as less risky than resuming bombing or abandoning pressure altogether. U.S. leaders hope the measure will inflict severe economic strain on Iran to force concessions, though the blockade has already contributed to higher gas prices and appears to have affected Trump’s approval ratings ahead of midterms.
Trump ordered an end to U.S. bombing of Iran following a ceasefire on April 7, which opened room for diplomacy, but his core objectives — securing enriched uranium, curbing Tehran’s nuclear and missile programs, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz — reportedly remain on the agenda. (ANI)
