Mumbai — US Ambassador Sergio Gor arrived in Mumbai on Saturday to lend his support to Team USA ahead of their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match. Posting on X, he wrote: “Just landed in Mumbai for the T20WorldCup game! Big day for team @usacricket Go Team USA 🇺🇸.”
Ahead of India’s opening match against the USA at Wankhede Stadium, Indian players Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, along with several support staff members, visited the Shri Siddhivinayak Ganpati Temple in Mumbai and offered prayers. India, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, will be defending their T20 World Cup title in the 2026 edition.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup runs from February 7 to March 8. The tournament opens with Pakistan facing the Netherlands at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. The United States, drawn in Group A, begin their campaign against India at Wankhede Stadium on February 7. In the previous edition the USA made an impressive debut, reaching the Super Eight stage, upsetting Pakistan and producing tight contests with India and South Africa — they nearly chased 195 set by South Africa in the Super Eight but fell 18 runs short.
