Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE President, said the United Arab Emirates remains committed to regional peace and stability while remaining fully prepared to protect its sovereignty and everyone within its borders. His remarks were given in an interview on the Maraya Podcast, hosted by Mona Al Raisi and produced by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
Gargash stressed that the UAE has never acted as an aggressor. He said the country has exercised restraint and favoured diplomatic channels to shield the region from the fallout of armed conflict. At the same time, he affirmed the nation’s readiness to defend its achievements and people.
Gargash revealed that the UAE suffered more than 1,000 attacks over a period of several days, a scale he described as unprecedented even by military standards. He said those strikes would not weaken the country’s resolve. ‘We never expected Iran to launch such an aggressive war against us,’ he stated, while underscoring that the UAE has always been, and will continue to be, prepared to defend its homeland.
He clarified that the UAE did not support the hostilities and instead used its diplomatic influence to try to prevent a wider conflict. Observing Iran’s diplomatic position, Gargash said Tehran is becoming increasingly isolated internationally and is confronting a difficult military situation. He expressed confidence that the UAE will emerge from this period with greater strength and determination.
Gargash reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguard national milestones and to ensure the safety of both Emirati citizens and foreign residents. On the social platform X, he praised what he called the professional and heroic performance of the UAE Armed Forces, particularly the air force and air defence units, noting their role in protecting the skies and land and helping the nation feel secure.
Gulf News reported that Gargash’s comments underline the UAE’s dual approach: maintaining military readiness while continuing to press for a diplomatic resolution to the regional crisis.
