Washington, DC — President Donald Trump confirmed he will attend the dignified transfer for six U.S. service members killed in Kuwait. The troops died in strikes attributed to Iran across the Gulf that followed recent joint U.S.-Israeli military activity.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump said he would travel to Dover Air Force Base “with the First Lady and Members of my Cabinet, to pay our Highest Respect to our Great Warriors, who are returning home for the last time,” and added, “GOD BLESS THEM ALL!”
The White House, through press secretary Karoline Leavitt, announced the arrangements and the president’s planned attendance. The transfer at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware comes as tensions in West Asia remain elevated while the nation prepares to receive its fallen service members.
The U.S. Army identified the six killed in the strike on Shuaiba Port, Kuwait, as Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien, 45; Chief Warrant Officer Three Robert M. Marzan, 54; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor; Capt. Cody Khork; Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens; and Sgt. Declan Coady.
Reports say the personnel were inside a makeshift office space when the attack struck without apparent warning. The exact circumstances of the strike are under investigation.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell described the location on X as a “secure facility fortified with 6-foot walls,” saying defensive measures were in place at the site.
Commentator Pete Hegseth criticized media coverage of the deaths, accusing some outlets of trying to make the president “look bad” and arguing that reporting often overlooks Iran’s diminished capabilities. He also said U.S. forces have maintained control of Iranian airspace and waterways without deploying ground troops, and urged what he called more balanced coverage.
