A San Diego exotic dancer who posts as Charm Daze uploaded a video that went viral after she said she’s been seeing more young service members at local clubs. In the clip she described them as subdued, spending freely and trying to make the most of time at home. She also said several of the service members she encountered mentioned they were scheduled to deploy soon.
San Diego is home to major military installations — including Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base Coronado and Camp Pendleton — so encounters between service members and civilians are common. Still, the video touched off mixed reactions online: some viewers expressed sympathy for troops potentially facing deployment, while others raised alarms about operational security and the risks of casually sharing deployment information.
Marine officer and social media figure Kagan Dunlap responded publicly, urging service members to avoid discussing deployment plans with civilians. He warned that even offhand comments can lead to unintended disclosures when shared online.
The conversation comes as the United States, under President Donald Trump, has stepped up forces in parts of West Asia, sending additional Marine units, elements of the 82nd Airborne Division and naval assets to the region. Reports say the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli and thousands of sailors and Marines have arrived in the area.
Public opinion is split on the broader policy: polls show a substantial portion of Americans would prefer to end U.S. involvement in the conflict even if some strategic aims remain unmet, reflecting broader debate over the scope and duration of U.S. military commitments overseas.
