Human rights organizations in Balochistan have condemned what they describe as the enforced disappearance of Farzana Zehri, a resident of Zehri in Khuzdar district, and are demanding her immediate production or unconditional release. According to Paank, the human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), Farzana, daughter of Muhammad Bakhsh Zehri, was allegedly seized by Pakistani forces on the night of 1 December 2025 while returning from a hospital in Khuzdar. Her location remains unknown and authorities have not acknowledged any detention or provided legal grounds for her arrest.
Paank called the incident a clear case of enforced disappearance and a serious violation of basic human rights and international law. The group said the disappearance came soon after Farzana’s family relocated from Zehri to Khuzdar because of security concerns, suggesting that Baloch civilians continue to be targeted even after displacement. Paank held the state and security institutions responsible for her safety and urged immediate judicial production or release.
Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) said Farzana’s case fits a wider pattern of repression against politically active Baloch women. BVJ pointed to several recent cases: Mahjabeen Baloch, a 24-year-old student taken from Quetta Civil Hospital in May 2025; 15-year-old Nasreena Baloch, reported missing in November 2025; and 20-year-old Rahima Baloch, allegedly removed from her home in Dalbandin in December 2025. BVJ warned these incidents indicate an organised policy of intimidation aimed at silencing women engaged in the national movement.
The Baloch Women Forum (BWF) described Farzana’s disappearance as part of a troubling trend and warned against the normalization of enforced disappearances in the province. The forum said at least eight women were reportedly disappeared during 2025, while acknowledging the true number may be higher.
Human rights groups have appealed to national and international bodies to take urgent notice of Farzana Zehri’s disappearance and to pressure Pakistani authorities to end the practice of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. The report is sourced to a syndicated feed (ANI).
