Jerusalem, March 27 (ANI) — Despite US President Donald Trump’s public peace overtures to Iran, fighting in the region continues. The Israel Defence Forces said Saturday that they struck what they described as the Iranian regime’s main facility for producing missiles and sea mines in Yazd. The IDF said the site was used for planning, developing, assembling and storing advanced missiles intended for cruise platforms, submarines and helicopters, and aimed at both mobile and fixed maritime targets.
The IDF said that, in strikes carried out across Tehran, the Air Force targeted infrastructure and sites used to produce weaponry, with particular emphasis on ballistic missile production facilities. Guided by Military Intelligence, the Air Force also struck fire arrays across western Iran overnight, the military added, targeting launchers and missile storage sites the IDF said posed a threat to Israel.
Over the past day, Israel Air Force jets conducted roughly 20 fighter-jet sorties in western Iran, striking dozens of sites, according to the IDF. Locations named by the military included Kermanshah and Dezful. The Air Force said it dropped about 70 munitions on sites used for storing and launching ballistic missiles and air-defence systems, and that personnel operating at those sites were killed. The IDF said it would continue operations to degrade Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities and reduce threats to Israeli civilians.
The military also reported that, after a lull of nearly eight hours, it detected a new ballistic missile attack originating from Iran.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it carried out wave 83 of an operation it calls True Promise 4, which it described as targeting key American and Israeli military installations across the region. The IRGC said the wave was dedicated to what it called the warm-hearted people of the southern strip of the country in the north of the Ever-Persian Gulf and used the code Ya Aba Abdullah Al-Hussein (AS).
In its account, the IRGC said strikes hit a range of strategic assets belonging to US and Israeli forces, including storage tanks and an oil depot in Ashdod, a military personnel site in the Modi’in area, and a US military information-exchange centre in the region. The IRGC also claimed strikes on US bases at Al-Dhafra and Al-Udeiriyah, and on maintenance and storage hangars for transport aircraft and drones at Ali Al-Salem Air Base.
Reports of the attacks and counterstrikes come amid heightened tensions across the region.
