Tehran, April 2 — Iran’s military on Thursday rejected recent remarks by US President Donald Trump and warned the conflict would continue until Washington endured ‘‘permanent humiliation, regret, and surrender,’’ state media Press TV reported.
A spokeswoman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters dismissed US claims that Iran’s military infrastructure and capabilities had been degraded, calling such assessments false and US intelligence on Iran’s forces ‘‘incomplete.’’ She said Washington underestimated the Islamic Republic’s ‘‘vast strategic capabilities’’ and rejected Trump’s assertion that Tehran’s missile and drone capacities had been dramatically reduced.
The spokesperson told Press TV that US strikes had not hit Iran’s strategic production sites, long-range attack and precision drone facilities, modern air-defence systems, electronic-warfare assets or other special equipment, and warned that the locations where strategic military production actually takes place are unknown to, and unreachable by, US forces. She added that attempts to ‘‘count our missiles, drones, and strategic systems’’ would be mistaken and futile.
The Central Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters coordinates operations between the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The spokesperson accused the United States of initiating aggression and pledged continued retaliation: ‘‘You must pay for the aggression you started against our honourable, beloved, Muslim nation. This war will continue until you face permanent humiliation, regret, and surrender. Expect more crushing and devastating strikes from us in continuation of the severe blows you have already received.’’
In a national address, President Trump hailed what he described as a ‘‘decisive’’ blow to Iran and said the campaign’s main objectives were nearing completion. He asserted that Iranian maritime and aerial capabilities had been systematically dismantled, saying ‘‘Iran’s navy is gone, its air force is in ruins, and its leaders, most of them terrorists, are now dead,’’ and claimed Iran’s ability to launch missiles and drones had been ‘‘dramatically curtailed’’ as weapons factories and rocket launchers were destroyed.
