Tehran, March 25 — A spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters, the unified command of the Iranian Armed Forces, mocked US President Donald Trump’s assertion that Washington was negotiating with Iran and that the war was nearing an end. In a video shared by Fars News, the spokesperson taunted that “you are negotiating with yourselves,” calling the US’s once-vaunted strategic power a strategic defeat and warning Washington not to dress that defeat up as an “agreement.”
The spokesperson said “the era of your promises has come to an end,” drawing a contrast between “truth” and “falsehood” and insisting truth-seekers would not be fooled by US media. He said internal US divisions had escalated to the point of self-negotiation and cautioned there would be no return to previous energy and oil prices or to US investment in the region “until you understand that stability in this region is guaranteed only by the powerful hand of our armed forces.” He also declared that Iranian forces would not reconcile with US-Israeli forces, warning that “until we will it, no situation will return to its previous state” and urging that any plan to act against Iran be abandoned.
President Trump had earlier said negotiations were under way and expressed confidence the conflict would end, claiming US forces had degraded Iran’s navy, air force and communications and asserting US military dominance in parts of Iran, saying he believed “we are going to end it.” There has been no formal Iranian response to that overture. Iranian officials had previously denied negotiations with the US, saying peace would follow only if the US and Israel halted their campaign. With Iran’s military maintaining a belligerent posture and announcing what it described as “wave 80” of retaliatory strikes, prospects for peace in West Asia remain uncertain.
