The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi on Saturday thanked Indians for their donations of money, jewellery and other items to help rebuild after the Gulf War crisis, saying the nation’s kindness and humanity will be remembered forever.
“We will never forget your kindness and humanity. Thank you, India,” the embassy said, offering particular appreciation to the people of Kashmir for their humanitarian support and heartfelt solidarity.
The mission singled out the sacrifice of a Kashmiri woman who donated a gold memento kept in memory of her husband, who passed away 28 years ago. The embassy described her gesture and tears as a profound source of comfort for the people of Iran and said such emotions will never be forgotten. It also noted that even Kashmiri children have been offering their piggy banks.
In Budgam district, residents have contributed gold, silver and cash to show solidarity. A collection stall has been set up at Masjid Imam Zaman to receive donations, Mohsin Ali told ANI. He said mothers and sisters are bringing jewellery, copper items and cash, explaining that although they cannot travel to Iran to help directly, providing financial aid is a way to support Iran and serve humanity.
