An Indian national was killed and three others were wounded in a drone attack in the Moscow region on Sunday, the Indian Embassy in Russia said. The embassy announced the casualties in a post on X, saying officials had visited the site and met the injured at a local hospital.
“One Indian worker has lost his life and three others have been injured in a drone attack in the Moscow region earlier today,” the embassy said, offering condolences for the death and saying it was coordinating with the company management and local authorities to provide assistance. The identities of the deceased and the injured were not disclosed.
The strike came amid a recent escalation in long-range drone and missile attacks between Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian forces have carried out overnight strikes targeting installations in and around Moscow, while Russia has continued its own operations in Ukraine.
Diplomatic efforts to negotiate a settlement to the more-than three-year conflict have continued alongside the military exchanges, but the intensity of attacks has increased in recent months, raising concerns about civilian casualties and broader instability.
The embassy did not provide further operational details about the attack or the condition of the injured workers. Local Russian authorities and the company employing the workers are handling on-the-ground response and investigations.
