Doha, February 28 — The Indian Embassy in Qatar has issued an advisory to Indian nationals amid escalating regional tensions, urging everyone to exercise caution and follow official updates from the Embassy and local authorities. The Embassy said it remains operational and has provided a 24/7 helpline for assistance: 00974-55647502 and email [email protected].
The Embassy posted the advisory on X, asking Indians in Qatar to stay informed and heed future advisories. This guidance follows similar alerts from other Indian missions in the region after recent military actions and rising tensions.
India has issued advisories for its missions in Iran, Israel and Jordan. The Indian Embassy in Jordan on Saturday released an urgent travel advisory asking Indian nationals and tourists to leave the country immediately ahead of possible commercial flight disruptions, and gave the Embassy contact as 00962-770 422 276. The mission in Tehran advised Indians to exercise utmost caution and avoid nonessential travel after a major joint strike reportedly involving Israel and the United States. The Embassy in Tel Aviv similarly urged Indian nationals in Israel to remain vigilant.
Reports say Israel and the US launched a joint military operation against Iranian targets, described in media accounts as Operation Roaring Lion, with strikes reported against military sites, missile production facilities, and locations near Iran’s leadership offices. Multiple blasts were reported in southern Tehran and some government buildings were said to have been hit, according to news reports.
The strikes and their aftermath have heightened fears of a wider regional conflagration. Israel declared a nationwide state of emergency, activated sirens, and moved certain hospital operations underground. Iran, Israel and Iraq reportedly closed portions of their airspace, suspending some flights. The events have also affected diplomatic efforts, including reports that nuclear negotiations between the US and Iran in Oman were disrupted.
Indian nationals in the region are advised to monitor updates from Indian missions and local authorities, register with their nearest Embassy or Consulate if possible, and use the listed helplines for urgent assistance.
