Amman — The Indian Embassy in Jordan has issued an urgent travel advisory asking all Indian nationals and tourists in Jordan to depart the country without delay amid a sharp escalation in regional tensions following Israeli and US strikes on Iran. The Embassy posted the warning on X, advising people to exercise utmost caution, follow local authorities’ instructions, and leave before commercial flight services are potentially disrupted. It provided an emergency contact number: 00962-770 422 276.
The advisory follows related warnings from other Indian diplomatic missions in the region. The Indian Embassy in Tehran urged nationals to be extremely careful and avoid nonessential movement after the strikes, and the Embassy in Tel Aviv asked Indians in Israel to remain vigilant.
The military action, reportedly a joint Israeli–US operation codenamed Operation Roaring Lion, targeted Iranian military sites, missile production facilities, and locations near Iran’s supreme leader’s office. The Times of Israel reported that the operation name was selected by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Several ministries in southern Tehran were said to have been hit, and residents reported hearing large explosions.
The strikes and their aftermath have raised fears of wider confrontation. Israel declared a nationwide state of emergency, launched air-raid sirens, and moved some hospital operations underground. Iran, Israel and Iraq closed portions of their airspace, leading to widespread flight suspensions. The attacks have also disrupted nuclear talks between the United States and Iran that were taking place in Oman.
Given the fluid security situation and potential for further disruptions to transport and essential services, the Embassy’s advisory emphasizes leaving Jordan while commercial travel remains available and keeping emergency contacts at hand.
