Bishkek, April 28 — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the completion of an India-funded IT capacity-building project for the Kyrgyz Armed Forces, delivering computer infrastructure, software and training to boost their operational tech capabilities. The project provided 12 computer system sets at each of two IT centres: the Kyrgyz Military Institute in Bishkek and Military Unit 36806 in Osh.
As part of the programme, Indian teams installed wargaming software and carried out on-the-job training for Kyrgyz military personnel to strengthen their technical skills and operational readiness. Singh said India remains committed to expanding defence cooperation with Kyrgyzstan through training, technology transfer and capacity development.
He also noted that India is supplying a containerised tubular shooting range to Kyrgyzstan, with delivery currently under way, further widening bilateral defence ties.
Singh made the announcement while leading the Indian delegation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Bishkek. During the visit he held bilateral talks with regional counterparts, including Kazakhstan’s Defence Minister Lieutenant General Dauren Kosanov and Belarus’ Defence Minister Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, to discuss enhanced defence cooperation and strategic ties.
Singh described his meeting with Kyrgyz Defence Minister Major General Mukambetov Ruslan Mustafaevich as “extremely productive” in a post on X, underscoring that India and the Kyrgyz Republic are strategic partners sharing democratic and cultural values. To highlight humanitarian cooperation, he presented two BHISHM Cube modular trauma care system sets to his Kyrgyz counterpart.
