Oslo, May 19 (ANI) — At the India‑Nordic Summit in Oslo, Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrun Frostadottir welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s observation about the shared word ‘sambandh’, saying people “need more ‘sambandh’ today.” Frostadottir highlighted the linguistic and cultural connection invoked by Modi and expressed optimism about expanding bilateral and economic ties between Iceland and India.
The Icelandic leader referred to the rising flow of investments following free trade agreements and said there are many areas where the two countries can work together. “I love that word ‘sambandh’,” she said, noting its resonance in Icelandic and the value of strengthening such bonds.
PM Modi had earlier used the term repeatedly to illustrate a deeper cultural alignment between India and the Nordic countries, saying that in several Nordic languages ‘sambandh’ conveys connection, relations and bond — the same meaning it holds in Hindi. Modi called for deepening ties across sectors to make the India‑Nordic partnership a model of shared prosperity, innovation and sustainability.
The summit brought together heads of government from India and the five Nordic nations — Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden — to agree a roadmap for future cooperation with a strong focus on ecological sustainability, environmental responsibility and technological collaboration. (ANI)
