A video circulating on social media shows a humanoid robot apparently ‘arrested’ by police in Macau after it allegedly frightened a 70-year-old woman, the South China Morning Post reported. The incident occurred last Thursday near the Lok Yeung Fa Yuen residential complex in Patane, when a Unitree G1 — about four feet tall — suddenly stopped behind the woman as she was walking. Startled, she shouted in Cantonese that the robot was making her heart race and accused it of causing trouble. Although she was not physically hurt, she was taken to hospital as a precaution and later discharged. Two police officers then intervened, escorted the robot away and warned its operator, a 50-year-old man, to be more careful when using the device in public. The clip was widely shared online, with some posts dubbing it “The First Humanoid Robot Arrested by Police.” Unitree markets the G1 for promotional and educational use; it is equipped with obstacle-avoidance systems and depth cameras to help it navigate environments.
