New Delhi, February 7 (ANI) — External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with Greece’s Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, covering a wide range of strategic and security issues. Dendias is in New Delhi at the invitation of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Posting on X, Jaishankar wrote: “Delighted to welcome Minister of National Defense of Greece Nikos Dendias this evening. An in-depth conversation on a wide range of strategic and security issues. Appreciate his many insights and assessments.”
Dendias thanked Jaishankar in his own post, saying he was honoured to be invited by his friend Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to his residence in New Delhi during an official visit following Rajnath Singh’s invitation. “We had a cordial discussion on regional and international developments,” he added.
On February 6, Dendias had noted he was in India at Rajnath Singh’s invitation and would meet Jaishankar. He said he would take part in an India–EU Forum on international developments and security, and would hold talks in Bengaluru on potential cooperation between the Greek defence industry ecosystem and its Indian counterpart.
The visit follows the recent India–EU free trade agreement. Replying to the motion of thanks in the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is signing future-ready trade deals with partners including the EU and the US, adding that these agreements have boosted global confidence in stability and economic momentum.
