London, March 23 (ANI) — Four ambulances operated by the Jewish community emergency service Hatzalah were deliberately set on fire in Golders Green, the Metropolitan Police said on Monday. Officers have launched an investigation and are treating the incident as an anti‑Semitic hate crime.
Police said they were notified in the early hours after the London Fire Brigade reported a fire on Highfield Road. On arrival, officers found four Hatzalah ambulances alight. Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution and local roads remain closed while inquiries continue. Fire crews have extinguished all fires and no injuries have been reported.
Police noted reports of explosions at the scene, which are thought to be linked to gas canisters stored on board the vehicles. Superintendent Sarah Jackson, who oversees policing in the area, said the attack has caused significant distress in the community. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and are also aware of video circulating online.
There have been no arrests so far. At this early stage police are seeking three suspects and have urged anyone with information to contact them, including via anonymous reporting channels. Jackson added that police will engage with faith leaders and increase patrols in the area to provide reassurance through a highly visible presence.
