The inaugural International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) Summit, originally scheduled for June 1 in New Delhi, has been postponed. The Environment Ministry said a new date will be announced after consultations with participating countries and stakeholders.
The summit had been planned to coincide with the Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS IV). Several African nations are range countries for big cats and play a vital role in international efforts on conservation, ecological sustainability and biodiversity protection. Following discussions with the Chairperson of the African Union and the African Union Commission, the decision was taken to move IAFS IV to a later date. To ensure broad and active participation from all range countries, including those in Africa, the IBCA Summit will also be convened at a later time.
The Environment Ministry stated that new dates for the IBCA Summit will be announced in due course.
