Etihad Airways has resumed a limited commercial schedule from Abu Dhabi amid escalating tensions in West Asia. The carrier said it will operate select routes from March 6 through March 19 and that passengers with existing bookings will be re-accommodated on the reinstated flights as soon as possible.
The temporary schedule links Abu Dhabi with destinations across Asia, Europe and North America, including: Ahmedabad, Bangkok, Bengaluru, Cairo, Colombo, Delhi, Frankfurt, Hanoi, Hyderabad, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur, London Heathrow, Madrid, Malé, Milan Malpensa, Moscow–Sheremetyevo, Mumbai, New York–JFK, Paris, Phuket, Riyadh, Rome, Seoul–Incheon, Toronto and Zurich.
Etihad urged passengers to travel to the airport only if they have been contacted directly by the airline or hold a confirmed booking on one of the listed flights. The carrier announced the reinstatement on its Twitter account.
Meanwhile, other Gulf carriers including Emirates, Air Arabia and Oman Air have continued services to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. Airport sources said Air Arabia has scheduled another flight this evening from Thiruvananthapuram to Sharjah.
India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation. As of March 5, Indian domestic carriers had cancelled 281 flights scheduled for that day. The ministry advised passengers to check flight status and watch for updates sent to their registered contact details by airlines.
The resumption comes amid a sharp escalation in the region after reports of a US-Israel strike on Iranian territory that sources said killed senior figures in Iran. Tehran responded with waves of drone and missile attacks across multiple countries, and the situation remains fluid.
