Kuwait City, March 20 (ANI): Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said the Mina Al Ahmadi Refinery was hit by drone attacks early on Friday, triggering fires in several units. In a post on its official X account, KPC said there were no reported injuries, that parts of the facility were shut down as a precaution, and that emergency teams were working to contain the situation in line with safety procedures.
The incident comes amid a wave of attacks on energy infrastructure across West Asia and the Gulf linked to the wider conflict between the US-Israel coalition and Iran. Recent developments include reports that Israel struck Iran’s South Pars gas field; Iran said it retaliated by striking Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, causing extensive damage, according to Iran’s Ministry of Defence. CNN and Israeli sources reported an Iranian ballistic missile struck the Haifa oil refinery complex in northern Israel. Saudi Arabia also said it had shot down four more drones amid rising tensions.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said Tehran’s response to the Israeli attack had employed only a “fraction” of its power out of respect for calls to de-escalate, and warned of “zero restraint” if Iranian infrastructure is targeted again. He wrote on X that the only reason for restraint was a respect for requested de-escalation and that any end to the conflict must address damage to Iranian civilian sites.
The situation remains volatile, with continued missile exchanges and military operations reported across the region.
