New Delhi — Delhi Police on Wednesday said it dismantled an arms-smuggling module with links to Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh and arrested 10 people. Officers recovered a cache of 21 foreign-made firearms, including a Czech-made sub-machine gun, a range of pistols and roughly 200 live cartridges. Seized pistols included models identified as PX-5.7 (used by special forces), Stoeger (Turkey), PX-3 (China), Shadow CZ (Czech Republic), and examples from Beretta (Italy), Taurus (Brazil) and Walther (Germany).
Preliminary inquiries indicate the cell was part of an organised cross-border network that smuggled and supplied illegal weapons to criminal elements in India. Investigators say the accused communicated with handlers and suppliers abroad, used covert routes and intermediaries to move weapons across borders, and arranged domestic distribution through local contacts. Police said efforts are continuing to map the module’s backward and forward linkages and to identify additional associates. Further investigation is under way.
