New Delhi, Mar 2, 2026 — The Prime Minister-led Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has called for an early cessation of hostilities in the West Asia crisis and urged a prompt return to dialogue and diplomacy.
Chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CCS reviewed the situation after air strikes in Iran on February 28 and the subsequent escalation, which included attacks in several Gulf countries. The committee voiced serious concern for the safety and security of the large Indian expatriate community in the region.
Attending ministers and officials included Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. The CCS examined difficulties faced by Indian travellers transiting the region and students scheduled to sit examinations, as well as broader implications for regional security and economic and commercial activity.
The committee directed all concerned departments to take necessary and feasible measures to assist Indian nationals affected by the developments and reiterated the importance of achieving an early cessation of hostilities and restoring diplomacy and dialogue.
