Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan — A late Thursday-night explosion demolished a government primary school in Mir Ali tehsil’s Ayaz Kot area, Khushhali village, leaving more than 600 children without a local place to study.
Unidentified attackers planted explosives that reduced much of the Government Primary School to rubble and forced the suspension of classes, officials said. The school was reportedly the only functioning primary institution in the immediate area and served hundreds of students.
Authorities sealed off the damaged building and are exploring temporary arrangements to resume lessons. Local elders and parents condemned the attack; one community leader said the school was the “heart of our community,” and its destruction felt like an assault on the children’s future.
Security forces cordoned the site and launched a search operation, but no group has claimed responsibility. The district administration described the bombing as an “anti-education act,” saying such attacks hinder peace and development in the tribal belt and pledged to apprehend those responsible.
Police collected evidence while a bomb disposal unit examined the device. Initial assessments indicate the explosive was detonated remotely or triggered by a timer, according to The Express Tribune. This account is based on reports from The Express Tribune and ANI.
