Balochistan, Pakistan — The mutilated bodies of five men were recovered across three districts on December 6, in an incident that has intensified concerns over enforced disappearances and summary killings in the province, The Balochistan Post reported.
In Panjgur’s Parom tehsil, a body found in the Pullabad area was identified as Abdul Wahab, son of Muhammad Omar, from Zamuran in Kech district. Locals say Wahab was abducted on October 27 by an alleged state-backed “death squad,” shot during the abduction which left one leg paralysed, and after weeks in captivity his tortured body was later dumped.
Police in Khaliqabad district recovered three bodies in the Badrang area. Identification documents named the victims as Khuda Bakhsh of Johan, Zahoor Ahmed of Khaliqabad, and Barkat Khan of Kashan — cousins from the Lehri tribe. Authorities have launched an inquiry but have not publicly identified suspects or produced clear leads.
In Khuzdar district, a body was discovered near a roadside by the football ground in Zehri tehsil. The deceased was identified as Shahzaib, son of Muhammad Aslam from Sadiqabad; local officials said he had been shot.
Human rights groups and activists say the recurring discovery of tortured bodies in remote parts of Balochistan points to a wider pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings allegedly carried out by security agencies and their proxies. Dozens of recent victims were reportedly detained earlier by state forces, raising fears of custodial violence and state repression in the region, according to The Balochistan Post.
