Washington DC [US], May 27 (ANI) — President Donald Trump said he will hold a rare Cabinet meeting at the White House instead of Camp David, citing forecasts of bad weather that prompted the postponement of the planned trip to the presidential retreat.
“Based on the possible bad weather conditions tomorrow, we will be having our Cabinet Meeting in the White House, and will be postponing the Cabinet trip to Camp David,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Fox News confirmed the high-level session, saying all Cabinet members are expected to attend. The list of attendees reportedly includes outgoing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who faces growing pressure as officials navigate a complex diplomatic environment.
The meeting comes at a sensitive moment as the administration evaluates its options amid a fragile ceasefire. Camp David—often used for major national security and diplomatic deliberations—was to be the venue, making the decision to move the meeting notable.
Political signals from Washington have fluctuated between cautious diplomacy and firm deterrence. In recent days, Trump suggested negotiators were close to a potential breakthrough with Tehran, but Iranian officials have publicly rejected assertions that a deal is imminent, pointing to unresolved tensions.
While U.S. officials express guarded optimism about diplomacy, Washington has maintained a posture of military readiness. Trump has repeatedly warned that military action remains on the table if talks collapse.
Against that backdrop, U.S. forces carried out what Central Command described as “self-defence strikes” targeting Iranian missile launch sites and boats near the Strait of Hormuz, CNN reported, citing CENTCOM. CENTCOM spokesman Timothy Hawkins said the strikes were intended to protect American troops from threats posed by Iranian forces and that targets included missile launch sites and boats attempting to deploy mines. He added that CENTCOM continues to defend U.S. forces while exercising restraint during the ongoing ceasefire.
Iranian state media reported that an American MQ-9 drone violated Iranian airspace in the Persian Gulf region early Tuesday and was engaged by the IRGC Aerospace Force’s modern air-defence systems. Tehran condemned U.S. strikes, saying such actions reveal Washington’s “dishonesty and unreliability” even as diplomatic efforts aim to resolve the crisis in West Asia.
In a statement translated by the Embassy of Iran in India, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused the U.S. military of continuing “unlawful and unjustifiable actions” since the April 8, 2026, ceasefire announcement, citing a maritime blockade against Iranian ports and commercial vessels and alleged violations of the ceasefire in the Hormozgan region.
