Seoul, May 20 (ANI) — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday that India and South Korea are well placed to deepen defence cooperation as global defence systems undergo rapid change.
Speaking at the India–Republic of Korea Defence Industry Roundtable, Singh warned that emerging technologies are reshaping the nature of warfare, making manufacturing more technology-intensive, shortening innovation cycles and prompting supply-chain reconfiguration.
He said this technological dynamism is both driving and reflecting recent geostrategic shifts, and argued that in such a context trusted partnerships between technologically advanced nations gain strategic importance.
“In this changing global landscape, India and the Republic of Korea are positioned to work together,” he said, urging closer collaboration in defence research, co-development and industrial ties.
Singh highlighted the Republic of Korea’s rise as a leading manufacturing economy and industrial power, noting Korean companies’ global leadership in semiconductors, electronics, shipbuilding, automotive manufacturing, advanced batteries, petrochemicals and defence production. He also praised Korean shipyards as among the most advanced and efficient worldwide.
Addressing industry leaders, innovators, technologists, policymakers and strategic partners from both countries, Singh said it was a privilege to participate in the roundtable and extended warm greetings to all attendees.
