Abu Dhabi, May 15, 2026 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi said a new set of agreements signed during his stopover in the United Arab Emirates will inject “further vigour” into the India‑UAE relationship, describing the outcomes as substantive and forward‑looking.
The two countries exchanged seven landmark pacts spanning energy, defence, advanced technology and finance, reflecting a strategic deepening of ties across multiple sectors.
A key energy agreement links Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL). The partnership is intended to strengthen India’s energy security by expanding strategic reserves and enabling joint ventures in LPG and LNG infrastructure.
Separately, the UAE and India formalised a long‑term supply deal for liquefied petroleum gas to help insulate India from global market volatility and secure fuel availability for consumers and industry.
On defence, leaders established a Strategic Defence Partnership framework covering defence production, joint exercises, maritime security cooperation, as well as collaboration on cyber defence and secure communications. The framework is aimed at boosting interoperability and co‑development of defence capabilities.
Maritime cooperation includes a proposed ship repair and manufacturing cluster at Vadinar, Gujarat. Aligned with the Make in India initiative, the project is paired with a skills development arrangement designed to build a trained workforce for domestic shipbuilding and repair services.
In advanced computing, India’s Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C‑DAC) and UAE technology firm G42 agreed to collaborate on an eight‑exaflop supercomputer cluster, a move that would scale high‑performance computing capacity for research and industry applications.
The economic pillar of the visit was reinforced by the UAE’s commitment to invest USD 5 billion in Indian infrastructure projects and financial institutions, signaling deeper financial and investment ties between the two partners.
Reflecting on the visit on social media, PM Modi wrote: “Substantive outcomes, which will add vigour to the India‑UAE friendship.” The agreements underline growing strategic alignment between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi on energy security, defence cooperation, technology and economic partnership.
