New Delhi, May 7 — On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita praised the courage and precision of India’s armed forces, saying the world has seen that those who threaten India’s peace and security cannot escape the reach of our forces.
In a post on X, Margherita described Operation Sindoor as a defining chapter in India’s campaign against terrorism, highlighting the operation’s precision, courage and resolve. He credited seamless coordination among intelligence agencies, strategic leadership and the armed forces for enabling targeted action in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
The minister recalled that the operation was launched on May 7, 2025, after the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians. Conceived as a punitive, intelligence-led campaign, Operation Sindoor aimed to dismantle terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan. Multi-agency intelligence identified nine major camps that were struck during the campaign. According to officials, the strikes were meticulously planned to minimise collateral damage, with operational ethics and restraint exercised to avoid civilian harm.
Margherita also urged citizens to honour the armed forces by updating their social media display pictures with the image shared by the ministry and to observe the anniversary under the hashtag #OperationSindoor.
Following the strikes, Pakistan mounted retaliatory drone and UCAV attacks against key Indian airbases and logistics hubs. Those attempts were effectively neutralised by India’s multilayered air-defence architecture, supported by the Integrated Command and Control Strategy (ICCS), which provided real-time threat identification, assessment and interception across domains.
Officials say the campaign demonstrated operational synergy across land, air and sea, with the Army, Air Force and Navy working in close coordination and receiving full support from the government and other agencies and departments. The operation has been presented by authorities as a calibrated, tri-service response characterised by professionalism and purpose.
