New Delhi [India], April 30 (ANI): Vikram Doraiswami on Thursday received credentials from President Droupadi Murmu for his assignment as Ambassador of India to China.
The Indian Embassy in China posted on X that “Shri Vikram Doraiswami receives credentials from the Hon’ble President of India for his assignment as Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.”
Doraiswami met Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi the same day. According to the Army’s ADGPI post on X, the discussion focused on current geostrategic issues, bilateral engagement and measures to strengthen existing mechanisms amid ongoing sensitivities in India-China relations.
Amid continuing dialogue with China, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met Chinese Defence Minister Admiral Dong Jun during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Bishkek. Singh posted on X that it was a pleasure to interact with Admiral Dong Jun at the meeting.
Separately, MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George held talks with China’s Special Envoy for Climate Change Liu Zhenmin on the global climate agenda. Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India stands ready to be proactive in advancing global climate action, including through the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement.
Earlier, Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong noted that China values India’s role as the rotating President of BRICS. Xu said Zhai Jun, China’s special envoy on the Middle East, met India’s MEA Secretary (South) Neena Malhotra in New Delhi, adding that China and India, as major developing countries, have maintained communication on major international and regional issues. Xu said China hopes the BRICS consultation on Middle East affairs will send a constructive message for regional peace and stability.
