Bishkek [Kyrgyzstan], April 28 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the completion of a capacity-building IT project for the Kyrgyz Armed Forces, which included provisioning 12 sets of computer systems each at the IT Centres of the Kyrgyz Military Institute in Bishkek and Military Unit 36806 in Osh.
The project also featured the successful installation of wargaming software and on-the-job training for Kyrgyz military personnel, enhancing their technical and operational capabilities. Singh said India remains committed to strengthening defence cooperation with Kyrgyzstan through training, technology transfer and capacity development.
He added that provisioning of a containerised tubular shooting range to Kyrgyzstan is currently in progress, further expanding bilateral defence collaboration.
Singh made the announcement during his visit to Kyrgyzstan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting, where he held bilateral talks with regional partners. He met Kazakhstan’s Defence Minister, Lieutenant General Dauren Kosanov, to discuss strengthening defence cooperation and strategic ties; the two also exchanged gifts.
Singh also met Kyrgyz Defence Minister Major General Mukambetov Ruslan Mustafaevich and described the meeting as “extremely productive” in a post on X, noting that India and the Kyrgyz Republic are strategic partners sharing values of democracy, development, culture and heritage. He emphasized that bilateral cooperation spans diverse sectors with defence collaboration as an important pillar.
To underscore humanitarian cooperation, Singh gifted two BHISHM Cube modular trauma care system sets to his Kyrgyz counterpart. He also met Belarus’ Defence Minister, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, to discuss enhancing defence ties.
