Tel Aviv, April 6 — The Israeli Air Force (IAF) announced on Monday that it struck and killed Majid Khotam-Khasini Khademi, whom it identified as the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Intelligence Organisation, in overnight air strikes in Tehran. The IAF said the strikes were guided by intelligence from Israel’s Military Intelligence and shared the account on X.
According to the IAF, Khademi was a senior Revolutionary Guards commander with years of military and security experience. He was reportedly appointed to his post after the earlier killing of Mohammad Khotami in Operation “With a Lion Cub.” The IAF said Khademi played a central role in compiling intelligence for Iran’s senior leadership during Operation “Roar of the Lion.”
The Israeli military further alleged the intelligence Khademi collected was used to plan and carry out attacks, and that he worked to advance operations targeting the State of Israel, Jewish communities worldwide, and U.S. interests. The IAF also accused him of involvement in monitoring Iranian citizens during efforts to suppress internal protests. The statement added that Khademi’s death is one of dozens of regime commanders eliminated during the current campaign.
As the situation in the region evolves, Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said it has begun strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut. In a separate update from Lebanon, the IDF reported that fighters from the Nahal Reconnaissance Unit eliminated individuals it said were responsible for the deaths of Captain Noam Madmoni, First Sergeant Ben Cohen, First Sergeant Maxim Antis, and First Sergeant Gilead Harel. The IDF said those militants were killed in close-quarters combat and that subsequent intelligence confirmed they were the same attackers behind the soldiers’ deaths.
The IDF added that in recent days the Air Force has identified and struck launchers and weapons caches concealed in buildings and civilian infrastructure across several areas in Lebanon, part of efforts to weaken Hezbollah capabilities and reinforce Israel’s forward defense.
On the diplomatic front, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares spoke with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, as global partners coordinate responses to heightened tensions in West Asia and the Gulf. The leaders emphasized the need to protect civilian and energy infrastructure and called for de-escalation.
Meanwhile, Iranian state broadcaster Press TV reported that the IRGC conducted the 97th wave of “Operation True Promise 4,” describing strikes against U.S. and Israeli positions.
