Washington, DC — US President Donald Trump on Sunday described the day as a “big day” for Iran, saying the US military had destroyed numerous key targets inside the country. In a post on Truth Social, he credited “our GREAT MILITARY” with taking out long-sought objectives.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Joint Base Andrews, Trump asserted that US forces had effectively knocked out Iran’s navy and air force and removed most of its missiles. He added that a different set of leaders appears to be in place in Tehran, calling the development “truly regime change” and describing the new figures as “very reasonable.”
Trump also commented on the status of a member of Iran’s Supreme Leader’s family, saying authorities believe the son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei may be alive but seriously wounded. He spoke of having “lots of alternatives” and of a significant US naval presence in the region.
On a reported 15-point peace plan sent to Tehran, Trump said Iran had accepted most of the items and had signaled cooperation through oil shipments. He claimed Iran initially sent what he described as roughly 10 boatloads of oil and then additional shipments he placed at about 20 boatloads, and said those shipments would begin moving the following day. He characterized ongoing diplomatic contacts as “very good meetings, both directly and indirectly.”
Separately, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused the US and Israel of using diplomacy as a pretext to prepare a ground invasion, according to state media Press TV. Ghalibaf said the 15-point list sought by the US tries to gain what it could not achieve in war and warned that Iran would not bow to pressure, asserting that Iranian forces are ready and will not be humiliated.
