Washington, DC [US], March 7 (ANI): US President Donald Trump confirmed he will attend the dignified transfer ceremony for six US service members killed in Kuwait. The troops died in retaliatory strikes by Iran across the Gulf following recent joint US-Israeli military operations.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump said he would go to Dover Air Force Base “with the First Lady and Members of my Cabinet, to pay our Highest Respect to our Great Warriors, who are returning home for the last time,” and added, “GOD BLESS THEM ALL!”
The White House, via press secretary Karoline Leavitt, had announced the arrangements and the president’s planned attendance. The transfer at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware comes amid escalating tensions in West Asia as the nation prepares to receive its fallen service members.
The US Army has identified the six killed in the strike on Shuaiba Port, Kuwait, as Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien, 45; Chief Warrant Officer Three Robert M. Marzan, 54; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor; Capt. Cody Khork; Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens; and Sgt. Declan Coady.
Reports indicate the personnel were inside a makeshift office space when the attack struck without apparent warning. The circumstances of the strike are under investigation.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell described the site on X as a “secure facility fortified with 6-foot walls,” noting defensive measures were in place at the location.
United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth criticized media coverage of the deaths, accusing outlets of trying to make the president “look bad” and saying the press overlooks Iran’s diminished capabilities. He said US forces have controlled Iranian airspace and waterways without ground troops and urged more balanced reporting.
