New Delhi, March 6 (ANI): The eleventh Raisina Dialogue, India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, was inaugurated last evening by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finland’s President Alexander Stubb.
Samir Saran, President of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), said the Dialogue has consistently aimed to “unpack the present to help shape the future.” He noted the 2026 theme, Samskara, reflects a world where nations assert identity and refine their dialogue. Sunjoy Joshi, ORF Chairman, observed that while current conflicts stem from old impulses, their technological amplification demands new coalitions, fresh intellectual engagement, and forward-looking governance.
In his keynote, President Stubb highlighted complementarities between India and Finland, noting Finland’s repeated ranking as the “happiest country” and India’s standing as the “most optimistic country.” He argued the future global order should build on the happiness and optimism both countries bring. Stubb said the global power balance has shifted in favour of the Global South and called for multilateralism that recognises today’s realities. He proposed a reformed UN Security Council with two permanent seats each for Asia and Africa and one for Latin America, and he affirmed that India should have a permanent seat. He also praised Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to extend Artificial Intelligence to the last mile.
Delivering the vote of thanks, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar praised the forum’s openness, diversity and energy, expressing confidence the Dialogue will continue to explore new capabilities, mindsets and assumptions.
Day 1 included Curtain Raisers with international speakers such as Christopher Landau, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Benedetta Berti, Rishi Bal, Sakshi Gupta, Erik Solheim, and Amitabh Kant. All open sessions will be streamed live on the Raisina Dialogue Twitter handle (@raisinadialogue), ORF’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Hosted by the Observer Research Foundation and India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the Raisina Dialogue has over ten editions established itself as India’s leading conference on geopolitics and geo-economics. (ANI)
