Moscow, March 2, 2026 — TV BRICS staged a telebridge titled “Russian Winter in Literary Texts” for Indian students, broadcasting from the IM Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature in Moscow. Fourteen universities from 13 cities across nine states participated, with representatives from Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolhapur and institutions in Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala and other regions. An Indian postgraduate studying at the State University of Education in Moscow also took part.
The event was held under TV BRICS’ Modern Russian project in partnership with the Indian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (INDAPRYAL) and Russian House in New Delhi. Tamara Skok, director of Innovative Linguistic Projects at TV BRICS and head of the Modern Russian initiative, said the series builds on long-standing cooperation with Russian studies experts in India and aims to move academic discussion beyond stereotypes while expanding students’ linguistic and cultural horizons. This edition emphasized the twofold nature of the Russian winter — its lyrical beauty and severe conditions — and examined its place in cultural identity and seasonal traditions.
Discussion sessions covered passages by Alexander Pushkin, Leo Tolstoy and Nikolai Gogol, exploring literary portrayals of blizzards and etymological links between Russian words for blizzard, rebellion and confusion. The programme included talks on winter proverbs, film excerpts such as Anna Karenina, and conversations about traditional observances like Svyatki, Christmas and Epiphany. The telebridge closed with creative activities: students recited poems and performed songs tied to winter and New Year themes. This was the ninth edition of the Modern Russian international educational series. (ANI)
