Kyiv, April 30 (ANI): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday pressed for specifics about a reported short-term ceasefire offer from Russia, following a telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Zelenskyy said Kyiv is seeking a long-term, reliable and guaranteed cessation of hostilities and continues diplomatic work to end the war. He ordered Ukrainian representatives to contact the US President’s team to determine whether Russia’s suggestion amounts to little more than a brief security window — “a few hours of security for a parade in Moscow” — or represents a more meaningful, substantive proposal.
“Our proposal is a long-term ceasefire, reliable and guaranteed security for people, and a lasting peace. Ukraine is ready to work toward this in any dignified and effective format,” he wrote on X.
The call between Putin and Trump took place on April 29. Trump said Putin had “suggested a little bit of a ceasefire” and indicated Moscow might announce something soon. Trump added he believed Putin had been willing to negotiate earlier, but that outside pressures had made talks difficult.
