Updated May 12, 2026 — Peshawar: A suicide bomber driving an explosive-laden three-wheeler detonated the device in Naurang Bazar, Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, killing eight people and injuring 35, police said.
Officials said the attacker set off the blast at Phattak Chowk in the busy market area. Among the dead were two traffic police personnel and a woman. The injured were taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Sarai Naurang; several critically wounded patients were later referred to hospitals in Bannu and Peshawar for advanced treatment.
An emergency was declared at the receiving hospitals and all medical staff were mobilized. Rescue 1122 spokesperson Shahdab Khan said ambulances and response teams were dispatched to the scene to carry out relief and rescue operations.
Local police have launched an investigation into the attack. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Suhail Afridi has taken notice of the incident and directed the Inspector General of Police to submit a detailed report. Afridi expressed condolences to the families of the victims and said the provincial government would provide all possible support to the bereaved.
Authorities continue to secure the area and gather evidence as emergency services treat the wounded and account for those affected by the explosion.
