Quetta, Balochistan — A female student of Bolan Medical College was allegedly taken into custody during a late-night raid on the girls’ hostel and has since been unaccounted for, prompting protests and widespread concern, local media reported.
The student has been identified as Khadija Baloch, a seventh-semester BS Nursing student from Hirronk in Kech district. Fellow students say she was detained during the operation and moved to an undisclosed location. No official information has been provided about her whereabouts.
Students allege personnel from the Frontier Corps, Military Intelligence and the Counter Terrorism Department were involved in the raid. Authorities have not issued a formal explanation for the detention.
In response to the disappearance, students staged a sit-in outside the college demanding Khadija’s immediate and safe return and accusing security agencies of singling out Baloch students. A heavy police deployment was later sent to the protest site, raising fears of a possible crackdown.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said Khadija was taken from her hostel and transferred to an unknown location without informing her family, calling the incident part of a broader practice: “This is not an exception. This is policy.”
The Baloch Women Forum (BWF) described the case as a serious human rights violation and warned that educational institutions are becoming unsafe for Baloch women. The forum expressed solidarity with the protesters and demanded Khadija’s release.
PAANK, the human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), said the case reflects an ongoing pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan and urged authorities to disclose her location. BNM chairperson Naseem Baloch appealed to the international community to intervene, characterizing the situation as systematic “collective punishment.”
The incident comes amid reports of a rise in disappearances across the region, including the recent case of Haseena Baloch, who remains missing after detention earlier this month, according to The Balochistan Post. Authorities have yet to respond to these allegations.
