New Delhi, April 23 — External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said India’s relationship with Africa is entering a “season of renewal” as he unveiled the logo, theme and website for the India-Africa Forum Summit IV in New Delhi.
Jaishankar described the summit as the next phase of a long-standing partnership rooted in shared history and growing cooperation. He said the gathering marks “fresh beginnings” and a new chapter in India-Africa ties forged by common struggles, solidarity and converging aspirations.
Underlining the expansion of bilateral engagement, the minister noted steady growth across key pillars and frequent high-level interactions. He recalled his own extensive travel to the continent — more than 20 visits — and said Ministers of State have visited even more. Highlighting India’s strengthened diplomatic footprint, he added that New Delhi has opened 17 new missions in recent years, bringing the total number of Indian diplomatic missions in Africa to 46. Jaishankar said this expansion demonstrates India’s long-term commitment to engaging every region of the continent and reflects a shared vision for a more inclusive, representative global order.
The launch event presented the summit identity and online platform ahead of the larger gathering, signaling a renewed focus on deepening political, economic and people-to-people ties between India and African nations.
Separately, Jaishankar met South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on April 19 during the latter’s state visit to India, praising Lee’s commitment to deepen India–Korea relations across multiple domains and expressing confidence that talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi would further strengthen the Special Strategic Partnership.
