Tehran [Iran], April 30 (ANI): Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said on Thursday that the future of the Persian Gulf will be free of American presence, asserting foreign forces have no role in the region except “in the depths of its waters.”
In a message for Persian Gulf Day reported by state broadcaster IRIB, Khamenei argued regional nations share a common destiny and warned against interference by distant external powers. He described recent developments as the start of a “new order” shaped by Iran’s resistance policies and regional dynamics.
“By God’s grace and power, the bright future of the Persian Gulf region will be a future without America and in the service of the progress, comfort, and prosperity of its peoples. We share a ‘fate’ with our neighbours in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, and the foreigners who greedily commit evil in it from thousands of kilometers away have no place in it except in the depths of its waters. And the chain of this victory, which has been achieved by the grace of God Almighty in the shadow of the measures and policies of the resistance and the strategy of a strong Iran, will be the beginning of a new order in the region and the world,” he said.
Khamenei also pointed to growing unity and resilience within Iran, saying national strength now stretches across science, industry and advanced fields including nuclear and missile technologies. He said Iranians at home and abroad view these capabilities as strategic national assets to be protected alongside territorial integrity.
“Today, the miraculous awakening of the Iranian nation is not limited to the tens of millions who sacrificed their lives in the fight against Zionism and the bloodthirsty America. In front of the united ranks of the sent Islamic nation, ninety million zealous and noble Iranian compatriots inside and outside the country have considered all the capacities of identity, spirituality, humanity, science, industry, and basic and new technologies – from nano and bio to nuclear and missile – as their national capital and will guard them like water, land, and air borders,” he said.
Persian Gulf Day, observed annually on April 30 in Iran, commemorates the 1622 defeat of Portuguese forces and the expulsion from Hormuz Island—an event often invoked to underscore national sovereignty over the Gulf and strategic waterways. Press TV noted that Shah Abbas I led forces that ended roughly a century of foreign control in the region.
Khamenei’s remarks come amid heightened tensions with the United States and competing influence over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. (ANI)
