Dhaka, May 4 — Outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma paid a farewell call on Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman on May 4, thanking the minister and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their steady cooperation in advancing bilateral ties. The two officials reviewed recent developments and expressed optimism about the relationship’s future, noting fresh capabilities and shared aspirations in both countries.
Verma reiterated India’s intent to deepen people‑centric cooperation with Bangladesh’s government and people, emphasizing initiatives aligned with each country’s development priorities and grounded in mutual interest and benefit. The foreign minister thanked Verma for his service and wished him well in his next assignment.
Earlier engagements during Verma’s tenure included a farewell visit from board members of the Bangladesh‑India Friendship Society (BIFS) on April 26, where he commended the group’s role in strengthening people‑to‑people ties and stressed the need for a forward‑looking cooperation agenda. On April 16 Verma also hosted newly appointed directors of the India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI). He encouraged the IBCCI—whose membership spans more than 500 companies—to leverage geographic proximity to create tangible economic opportunities, broaden trade linkages into deeper partnerships, attract investment, and integrate regional value chains.
