New Delhi, April 29 — India’s Ministry of External Affairs Secretary (West), Sibi George, met with China’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, Liu Zhenmin, to discuss the international climate agenda. The conversation focused on advancing global climate action and cooperative engagement in multilateral forums, including work under the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement.
Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India is committed to playing a proactive, constructive role in driving climate progress. In his social media post, Jaiswal highlighted the two sides’ exchange of views and India’s continued engagement in efforts to strengthen global climate responses.
Separately, on the sidelines of the BRICS MENA Consultations in New Delhi, China’s special envoy on Middle East affairs, Zhai Jun, held talks with Secretary (South) Neena Malhotra. The officials reviewed recent developments across the MENA region and explored ways to deepen bilateral ties.
Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong also commented on the meetings, noting Beijing values India’s role as the rotating BRICS president. He expressed hope that BRICS consultations on Middle East matters will send a constructive signal in support of regional stability and peace.
Both the climate and MENA discussions reflect ongoing diplomatic engagement between India and China on major international and regional issues, with officials emphasizing dialogue and cooperation through established multilateral channels. (ANI)
