New Delhi, May 13, 2026 — A high-level delegation from Chile visited India to deepen economic and commercial ties and to push forward negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held talks with Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna during the visit, underlining the steady growth in trade and investment between the two countries. Both sides stressed the strategic value of a CEPA to unlock the full potential of bilateral economic relations and reaffirmed their commitment to work toward an early conclusion of the pact.
Separately, India’s Commerce Secretary met Paula Estévez, Vice-Minister of International Economic Relations (SUBREI) of Chile, to discuss the modalities for concluding the CEPA. Discussions also covered trade facilitation, improved market access, investment promotion and measures to strengthen institutional economic engagement.
An India–Chile Business Roundtable in New Delhi brought together senior business leaders and industry stakeholders from both countries. Participants explored collaboration opportunities across sectors including critical minerals, renewable energy, agri-business, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, digital services, logistics and advanced manufacturing.
Officials from both sides highlighted strong complementarities between the Indian and Chilean economies, and emphasized the importance of resilient supply chains, sustainable development and enhanced private-sector participation to deepen commercial ties.
The visit reinforced warm, longstanding relations founded on mutual trust and shared democratic values, while giving fresh momentum to efforts aimed at building a future-oriented economic partnership between India and Chile.
