Iran and the United States have lately taken their dispute from the battlefield to social media, using humour to jab at one another. A recent post has gone viral after appearing to mock US President Donald Trump’s claim that the United States had won the ongoing conflict.
The Iranian Embassy in Ghana shared a clip on X (formerly Twitter) responding to Trump’s statement, writing: “He must be dreaming that he defeated Iran. Leave him sleeping.”
In the video, one official says, “Let’s wake him up,” and another replies, “We can’t do that because the President is thinking of winning Iran in his dreams.”

Netizens reacted variously. One user wrote that many misunderstand how the United States works, arguing that Trump is only a loud, small part of a larger system and that “making cartoons and hoping for a miracle sea change is not going to be a winning strategy.” Others posted shorter barbs: “Poor Trump,” while another said, “You are wrong. Trump is not sleeping. Rather, he is very busy in firing everyone.” One commenter joked, “Finally, the Lego movie comes… The title: the lying King sleeping.”
