York Regional Police say five men have been charged after officers recovered a stolen trailer containing cannabis products worth more than $2 million and seized two illegal firearms.
The Auto Cargo Theft Unit (ACTU) located the trailer on April 15 near McLaughlin Road and Highway 401 in Mississauga. The trailer had been reported stolen from the Niagara Region and was carrying a large shipment of cannabis products that police say were destined for multiple dispensaries when it was taken.
Those arrested are identified as Manveer Singh, 21; Sarbjeet Singh, 32; Dilkhab Singh, 21; Jaiskavan Malhi, 23 — all of Brampton; and Karan Kumar, 25, of Hamilton. Investigators say officers observed people near the recovered trailer, later linked them to the theft and took five suspects into custody. Searches connected to the investigation yielded two illegal firearms.
York Regional Police have released photographs of the accused and say the probe is ongoing. They added there may be additional victims or suspects involved and asked anyone with information to come forward.
