London [UK], February 27 (ANI) — The Baloch Advocacy and Studies Centre (BASC) has voiced its support for the Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s (BYC) month-long awareness campaign, launched to mark one year since the detention of several BYC leaders.
In a message posted on X, BASC said the campaign commemorates the arrests of Mahrang Baloch, Bebagar Baloch, Sibghatullah Shah Ji, Gulzadi and Beebo Baloch, whom it described as human rights defenders facing what BASC called fabricated charges and denial of due process.
BASC said committed BYC members continue to stand with the Baloch population amid what the organisation characterised as political repression and persistent human rights abuses. The campaign’s objectives, BASC added, are to spotlight the prolonged detention of these leaders and to mobilise international attention to a worsening human rights climate in Balochistan.
Framing the initiative as a plea for justice, BASC reiterated that attempts to silence the oppressed will not succeed and endorsed BYC’s call for coordinated action to address the range of human rights violations affecting the Baloch community. The centre argued that when a state fails to safeguard citizens’ rights, dignity and security, remaining silent is not acceptable.
The BASC statement described the campaign as a protest against injustice and erosion of the rule of law, calling for accountability and reaffirming a humanitarian commitment to protect fundamental rights and human dignity.
Separately, BYC posted on X alleging a sharp deterioration in the human rights situation in Nushki and Kharan districts during February 2026. BYC reported enforced disappearances, civilian casualties, curfews and communication blackouts, saying residents were cut off from normal social life, healthcare and livelihoods for eleven consecutive days. Although some restrictions were later eased, the group said daily activities remained limited to only a few hours.
