Quetta, May 11 — The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has strongly denounced the Sindh government after organisers of the Aurat March were reportedly told the BYC could not participate and were labelled a ‘banned organisation’ in the permit conditions.
Calling the restriction ‘state fascism against the Baloch nation,’ the BYC said the move amounts to an effort to silence peaceful political voices that highlight human rights concerns in Balochistan. In a statement posted on X, the group challenged the legal basis for the designation, asking when and by which court the BYC had been declared banned.
The BYC maintained that no Pakistani court has outlawed the organisation and described itself as a peaceful political movement. It said there is no legal justification for branding it banned and reiterated that it is a democratic public movement campaigning against human rights violations, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial measures, and what it called a campaign of violence against Baloch people.
The organisation alleged attempts over the past year to suppress its activities using violence and claimed authorities have been unable to produce any legal evidence against it. The BYC also accused officials of detaining its leaders unlawfully and of using anti-terror legislation to target political activists.
Specifically, the group said laws such as the Anti-Terrorism Act and provisions like the Fourth Schedule are being used against thousands of Baloch activists, students, and other peaceful protesters who raise human rights concerns. It called the conditions imposed on Aurat March organisers ‘shameful and condemnable’ and said the actions show the state is using law and force to silence Baloch voices.
The BYC pledged to continue documenting and exposing alleged human rights abuses, enforced disappearances, political vendettas, and state oppression in Balochistan. It appealed to international human rights organisations, women’s movements, democratic groups, and others who value justice to stand in solidarity with the Baloch people’s peaceful struggle.
