Beijing [China], May 3 (ANI): India’s Ambassador-designate to China, Vikram Doraiswami, was received by Charge d’Affaires Angeline Premalatha and Deputy Director, Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Li Jianbo upon his arrival in Beijing.
The Embassy of India in Beijing posted on X: “A warm welcome to Ambassador-designate of India to the People’s Republic of China, Shri Vikram Doraiswami, on his arrival in Beijing today. He was received by Cd’A Angeline Premalatha and Deputy Director, Asia Department of MFA Mr. Li Jianbo.”
The Embassy’s post included the tweet: “A warm welcome to Ambassador-designate of India to the People’s Republic of China, Shri Vikram Doraiswami, on his arrival in Beijing today. On Saturday, Doraiswami was also warmly received by Consul General Pratik Mathur on his arrival at Pudong International Airport, Shanghai.
Earlier, on Thursday, he received credentials from President Droupadi Murmu for his assignment as Ambassador of India to China. The Indian Embassy in China posted: “Shri Vikram Doraiswami receives credentials from the Hon’ble President of India for his assignment as Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.”
Doraiswami called on Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Thursday, where they discussed geostrategic issues, bilateral engagement and measures to strengthen existing mechanisms amid ongoing sensitivities in India-China relations. The ADGPI noted the interaction “focused on the current geostrategic issues, bilateral engagement and measures to further strengthen existing mechanisms.”
Amid ongoing dialogue with China, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met China’s Defence Minister Admiral Dong Jun during the SCO Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Bishkek. Singh said it was a pleasure to interact with Admiral Dong Jun.
MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George held talks on the global climate agenda with China’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, Liu Zhenmin. Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India stands ready to be proactive in advancing global climate action, including through the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement.
Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong noted China values India’s role as the rotating BRICS President. He said Zhai Jun, China’s special envoy on the Middle East, met India’s MEA Secretary (South) Neena Malhotra, and that China and India maintain communication on major international and regional issues. “China values the important role India plays as the rotating presidency of BRICS, and hopes that the BRICS consultation on Middle East affairs will send a clear, constructive message for regional peace and stability,” he added.
