Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said investigators believe the man who attempted to force his way into the ballroom at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner was aiming at members of the Trump administration. Blanche told NBC’s Meet the Press that the suspect, a 31-year-old, traveled by train from California to Chicago and then to Washington, D.C., where he checked in as a guest at the hotel hosting Saturday night’s high-profile event.
President Donald Trump was quickly escorted off the stage after shots were heard. Authorities say the suspect is in custody and faces charges. As the investigation continues, FBI agents were observed arriving at a residence in Torrance, California, that has been linked to the suspect. Officials are continuing to gather evidence and pursue leads in the case.
